Tahoe Big Year Update

It’s gonna be short and sweet this time since we’re already in the third week of September. Basically, work was super busy during August, I had to prepare for and lead my annual volunteer guided hike for the Donner Summit Historical Society, and then I was coordinating and attending a couple of birthday parties for my 50th birthday celebration 🙂

Oh, and I was constantly on the grind to find new birds for my Tahoe Big Year, of which I officially reached my #200 bird goal on August 26th!

Reaching my #200 bird species goal by the end of August was quite amazing considering it took me until December to do it back in 2021! At this point, though, it’s hard to find new species. So my next mini-goal is to reach 210. All of that said, I’m not worried about it because 200 was the main goal for the year and I’ve already achieved it 😉

I continued to produce my 2×3 inch mini-paintings through August, but I stopped at 77. Mostly I just stopped making new ones so that I could spend more time preparing for my Donner Party hike. Needless to say, though, there were only four paintings left at my work’s gift shop. So I sold 73 of them this summer! This was very cool and, before next season begins, I plan to have a bunch of them ready to go so that I don’t have to paint them in the early mornings before work! haha 🙂
