Experience, Results, and Closing Thoughts about My Running Summer
Even before I started my low heart rate training this summer (2025), I had all kinds of romantic ideas and hopes for the experience. I imagined myself valiantly running to the top of…
As I previously mentioned, I’m writing more articles for Tahoe Trail Guide and then linking them here (instead of writing a separate essay). I’m trying to consolidate my time and effort between the social media platforms that I operate. I sincerely hope that you’ll keep reading despite having to visit the other website 🙂
I’ve been very active on iNaturalist since 2019. I’m sure I’ve said it before but, in many respects, iNaturalist has replaced much of my social media needs. The website is educational and entertaining because it’s focused solely on nature observations. So you get to learn and see all the cool stuff that people are finding. And you get to post all the cool stuff you find in nature! Anyway, I highly encourage learning how to use it and being a part of the community if you have any interest in learning more about the natural world around you 🙂

I didn’t get out to specifically look for birds as much as last month, but I still saw some great species. Although, there are definitely some repeats in this bunch. But that’s just because they’re so dependable 🙂
Apparently I haven’t shared any of the videos that I’ve published since mid-October. Sorry about that! But here they are 🙂
My video output this fall has been a mish-mash of different outdoor content related to hiking, xc skiing, and wildlife.
I apologize for how the YouTube “shorts” appear on this page. They kind of dominate the screen, but they still look good 🙂
Thanks for being a part of my life. Until next time…

Tahoe Trail Guide is an online resource for hiking, backpacking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing in the Lake Tahoe region. In addition to trail data, I offer backcountry “how-to” articles and information about the local and natural history of Tahoe. Tahoe Swag is a collection of art and design products I create based on my love of the outdoors and appreciation for Lake Tahoe and the surrounding Sierra Nevada Mountains.
If you like any of the images I post in these newsletters, please contact me. I’d be more than happy to upload them to my RedBubble account so that you can order prints and other merchandise featuring the images.
Patreon is an online platform for providing financial support to creators who provide quality digital content that’s otherwise free. I offer various subscription tiers starting at $3. And all subscription tiers from $6 and up will receive original artwork after six consecutive months of contributions. The button directly below the Patreon button is a way in which to provide a one-time payment via PayPal (if subscriptions aren’t your thing).
My newsletters here on JaredManninen.com, the articles that I publish on Tahoe Trail Guide, and the videos I upload to YouTube will always be free. But if you’re interested in contributing to the health and longevity of my websites and YouTube channel, consider subscribing. Even a little goes a long way 🙂
